about the breed

The French Bulldog can get along with other dogs and children but should not be left alone until they are well acclimatized in the family environment. They are welcoming to strangers, but are effective watchdogs. As they will be vocal if they sense danger. These little dogs are active for their size and should be watched at all times around swimming pools for they cannot swim and will likely drown. They make a wonderful pet and will get along with practically everyone and anything. They do not need nor can they endure a lot of exercise. Therefore they would not be good companions for someone who is very active. As their short muzzles mean they can get worn out quickly and be prone to respiratory problems if over-exerted.

They do well to play and exercise in a fenced yard but are indoor dogs as they do not tolerate heat, dry, or too moist given their facial and nasal structure of the breed. They want to please yet are very stubborn.  This breed requires a lifelong commitment to take care of them, to baby them.
