Common Health Issues

French Bulldogs have a history of many health conditions including but not limited to, breathing issues, allergies and back problems. As a short-faced breed (brachycephalic), French Bulldogs have some health issues that you should be aware of and take care. Breathing is less efficient, therefore they are a lot less tolerance of heat, exercise and stress. It is advisable not smoke around them, or use chemical cleaning products. Keep them away from allergenic pollen including fresh cut grass. Keep your French bulldog cool, avoid strenuous exercise, they can die from heat exhaustion. Short faced breeds have a high risk of heat stroke because they cannot pant vigorously enough to lower their body heat.

At LochMarch we make every effort to do all the health testing we can, to ensure we are breeding quality, healthy dogs.
